Another Way of Looking at Things

Yes, this year brought a horrifying cancer scare, more pain than I can begin to describe, and ultimately a shocking diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis.  Still, I can't help but reflect on how my life has changed for the better.

Because of AS, I:

- Started this blog.
- Reconnected with so many old friends and made some new, fantastic ones.
- Became a vegetarian.
- Started juicing.
- Learned how to slow down.
- Appreciate every moment with family and friends.
- Renewed my love and passion for writing.
- Understand God's grace.
- Live intentionally.
- Believe something great is on the horizon.
- Am honest with myself.
- Choose joy.
- Started to grow my own food.
- Don't have time to fear.
- Pray without ceasing.

And while I look forward to a day without pain, I know that I am stronger for it.

  1. With every second of physical pain you endure, you're getting stronger spiritually and emotionally aren't you? Good for you.

I think I may be seeing a little bit of God's goodness through your insights. He is teaching us all through your example. Kinda like the kid that gets called up to the chalk board in algebra and is made to work through a problem in front of the rest of the class.

    Thanks for taking the hit,

  2. Kim,
You commented on my blog last week and it meant so much to me but shame on me I'm just coming over here and seeing yours! I'm so glad I did - your spirit and outlook are beautiful and I'm so happy to connect with you.
We can find positives in this AS life!
    Blessings to you <3

  3. "Friend" - Oh, I hated being the one at the board. Never really liked math either. Oh well, I don't mind taking one for the team now.

Jenna: Yes, I'm so glad that we connected and look forward to this journey together.
