Quiet Noise

It's 3:30 a.m. and I've been up for the last 2 hours. The pain has been incredible - every movement sends a jolt so sleep just isn't happening. Maybe clearing my head onto this computer will help.

Good news is my latest biopsy and set of xrays all came back clear. Well, good news that it's clear, bad news that we're still in the dark. Obviously, the all clear does not mean all is well, or I wouldn't be sitting here unable to sleep. Nonetheless, still thankful. In my situation, every negative (test) is a positive.

My thoughts for the moment:

There's nothing like the quiet of night. It's amazing what you hear in the quiet. The creaking of the walls, the sound of my daughter gently snoring through her stuffed up nose, the whirl of the refrigerator, the breath of my husband. Sounds of life. Sounds that you wouldn't normally hear in the daytime, as it's drowned out by the TV, Pandora radio playing on the computer, cars driving by, kids playing. The trick is learning how to quiet our days so we can hear in the midst of life moving about us - turning down the noise or tuning out the distractions so that we can hear what really matters.

And with that, I think I'll try to sleep again...

Sweet dreams,
Kim

  2. Reminds me of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. The Lord was not in the wind, nor the earthquake, nor the fire. Then the gentle whisper came. Elijah went forth to hear God.
I believe our almighty God can heal your pain this very second. I will pray that right now. In your prayers and in the silence, listen as the Spirit speaks.

  3. Heavenly Father, You are intimately aware of the struggle Kim is experiencing the pain and the despair. You know the desire of her heart to be healed of this back pain. I ask now for Your healing touch. I know that You are able and that just like in Bible times, You can heal her.

I also understand that you will choose what is best for her. I pray that through this trial, She will draw close to You and that You will be her comfort and strength. I pray that ultimately, whatever happens, You will be glorified through her.
I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen. This prayer is a on the daily prayer list for you. Thinking of you Auntie Sandy

  4. "Quiet Noise"....what a beautiful title. I love the way you express your appreciation for "the noise". How we all take the quietness of the night for granted. Kim, with all you're going through, it is amazing to me how you stop to see and feel the good. Results....we want conclusive and helpful RESULTS! Please give the doctors results they can deal with and let Kim off this painful roller coaster ride...she's too precious for all this pain.
